Episode 27: Balanced Life

Welcome to Episode 27, my friends. Today I have something a bit different for you. I was asked to speak at a singles conference a few weeks back and I have decided to share that talk with you. It was recorded live so there is a bit of background noise but I hope you will enjoy the perspective and teachings on living a balanced life.

 

Talk:

1.       Trust your inner wisdom: We live in a world where everyone is telling you what you need to do. But they don’t know what is best for you. I will share some ideas and perspectives but you are the only one that can know what balance needs to look like right now for you.

2.       What are you balancing? Write it down. Evaluate it.

3.       How do you talk about it? Should/have to – carry negative energy and make it drudgery. How we describe things matters – breakups, ice cream.

4.       How does it feel? Good/bad overwhelming? Does that emotion help you?

5.       Quit it all

6.       What is your definition of balance? When you hear the term balanced life, what do you think of? Perfection, doing it all?

7.       50/50 is balance. Allow for all of the emotions – positive and negative. The problem comes when we get stuck in emotion. Give space for all of it.

8.       What gets you out of balance? Mindset – have to do it all, not possible, Avoiding emotion – again make room for all of it.

9.       We do things because of how we think they will make us feel. Remember it is 50/50 there too. Just different problems but not better

10.   Start with your mindset – it is possible to have balance. You only have to do the next right kind thing. Not all of it.
