Episode 38: Why Goals Die
Welcome to Episode 38, my friends. I am so glad you are joining me today!!
Let’s talk about goals that die.
Do you make goals and then they seem to die off a day, week or year later?
Most of the time our goals die not because they are not good goals, not because we are not capable of accomplishing them, not because they wouldn’t benefit us, and not because we don’t want to achieve them but because we simply quit.
We have followed the pattern.
Get excited – make a goal – try one thing or maybe 2 things – have it get hard – stop doing anything.
Sometimes it is failure that stops us.
Sometimes it is opinions that stop us.
Sometimes it is not getting recognized that stops us.
But whatever it is for you, you have still said goodbye to the goal.
Did you know that quitting is optional?
Yup, it’s optional.
We don’t have to quit if we fail.
We don’t have to quit if someone voices a negative opinion of us.
We don’t have to quit if no one recognizes our efforts.
We don’t have to quit if no one shows up.
We can just decide that we are not going to quit.
Quitting can be an easy way out and continuing on can feel like scraping yourself up off the pavement and trying to keep going.
Committing doesn’t always feel good.
But quitting doesn’t lead us to our goals.
We want to be the ones who figure it out.
We want to be the ones that just keep trying until we achieve the goal.
That is possible for you.
If you want a profitable farm – you can figure it out.
If you want vacation time – you can figure it out.
If you want an email inbox that has 0 unread messages – it’s possible.
If you want the highest-gaining bull – there is a way to raise your cattle quality.
If you want to shut off your work cell phone at 5 pm at night and not worry about it – we see people do it all the time.
If you want to help others and be there for them to solve problems, share ideas, and contribute to their success – they need you to figure this out.
What will it take to have these things?
Massive action.
Figuring this stuff out requires us to develop and change.
It requires us to apply a new idea and fail.
It requires us to take training.
It requires us to think differently.
It requires us to not give up.
It requires us to do things differently.
Now massive action is not the same thing as insanity.
Insanity is going the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Massive action is deciding what we want to try.
Getting to work and doing it.
Failing.
Learning from that failure.
Repeat.
It’s time to make these dreams come true.
You know what you want.
You know it’s time to make it happen.
It might require some failed experiments but if you knew that in a year you were going to have it figured out you wouldn’t spend another minute thinking about that thing that didn’t work. You would get to work on the next idea.
Let’s not quit on our dreams and goals.
This is possible for you.
It will be fun.
